The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced early Wednesday morning they've signed receiver Mike Williams to a new six-year, $40.25 million contract.
The new deal is a five-year extension that puts Williams, 26, under contract through 2018. He had been entering the last year of his rookie deal.
BUCS: Wright saga ends ugly
Williams slid to the fourth round (101st overall) in the 2010 draft after a tumultuous stint at Syracuse that saw him quit the team in November 2009.
He made an immediate impact for the Bucs, though, leading all rookies with 65 catches for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns. Williams has played every game in three NFL seasons, catching 193 passes for 2,731 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Quarterback Josh Freeman tops the list of Bucs players still entering contract years.
