Report: John Abraham visiting Cardinals on Wednesday

There aren't many big name veterans still unsigned as camps open up around the league, but defensive end John Abraham is at the top of the list of those still searching for teams.

If a reported visit with the Cardinals goes well, Abraham may not be on that list much longer. Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 reports that Abraham is visiting with the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Abraham's flirtations with other teams, including the Titans, haven't gone much of anywhere because of Abraham's reported desire to play a heavier role at a higher salary than teams are interested in giving him. Abraham has played in a 4-3 scheme throughout his career, while the Cardinals run a 3-4 and have Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett at defensive end already. Any odd scheme fit could be avoided by playing Abraham in a situational pass rusher role, but that would only happen if Abraham lowers his demands in terms of playing time and salary.

Abraham has 122 sacks over the course of his career, which began with the Jets in 2000. He had 19.5 sacks with the Falcons over the last two seasons, who released him in a cap-cutting maneuver early in the offseason before signing Osi Umenyiora to anchor their pass rush.
