MTV paying for 'Buckwild' star's funeral

Buckwild

MTV is covering the funeral expenses for Shain Gandee, who died of carbon monoxide poisoning early Monday.

Ashley Gandee Lewis, a cousin of the Buckwild star, told EW on Thursday that the cable net is paying for the service and burial that’s scheduled for Sunday in Charleston, West Virginia. Gandee, 21, was found in his truck with two others about a mile from his home near Thaxton Hollow in Sissonville, West Virginia. Authorities ruled the death as accidental.

Lewis posted an obit for her cousin that read, in part, that Gandee “loved to four wheel, loved anything that involved mud, wheels and motors.”

Upwards of $16,000 in burial expenses is still needed, however, for the other two men that died with Gandee â€" his uncle David, 48, and Donald Robert Myers, 27 â€" both of whom were found with the Buckwild star in his truck. Lewis continues to solicit donations on the Facebook page for Gandee General Store, which she owns and operates, but she says she has only raised about $3,000.

David Gandee’s service is also scheduled for Sunday. Myers is slated for Saturday, pending payment.

Production has been suspended on the second season of Buckwild, which was recently renewed by MTV. The show, which focused on Gandee and eight other carefree 20-somethings from Sissonville, averaged 3 million viewers in Jersey Shore‘s old Thursdays-at-10 p.m. slot
