Soccer is the new money sport.

At least it is if you own a team.

According to The World's 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams put out by Forbes, the three top franchises are from the world of soccer.

No. 1 is Real Madrid now worth $3.3 billion nosing out Manchester United ($3.17 billion) and Barcelona ($2.6 billion).

Real Madrid and Manchester United swap spots from the 2012 list while Barcelona jumps from No. 8.

Then you can round up some of the usual suspects.

The New York Yankees ($2.3 billion) is the top team from the USA followed by another familiar name -- the Dallas Cowboys ($2.1 billion).

While the NFL doesn't have the top numbers that soccer has, they have bulk. Of the fifty teams on the list, 30 of them are from the NFL with the average franchise being worth $1.24 billion.

The others in the top 10: New England Patriots ($1.64 billion); Los Angeles Dodgers ($1.62 billion), Washington Redskins ($1.6 billion), New York Giants ($1.47 billion) and Arsenal ($1.33 billion). The Cowboys, Redskins and Giants are in the NFC East.
