MOCA director Jeffrey Deitch is parting ways with the museum, according to .
Deitch will be leaving at the end of the month, and the museum is planning to make an announcement Wednesday, the paper reports.
Deitch's tenure was controversial from the beginning, with many in the art world concerned about a commercial gallery owner taking over a public museum, The New York Times noted when Deitch was appointed MOCA director in 2010. Just last summer, chief curator Paul Schimmel departed.

Schimmel was fired from his position amid an imbroglio that included the resignations of the museum's four remaining artist trustees, John Baldessari, Barbara Kruger, Catherine Opie and Ed Ruscha.
It's unknown whether Deitch was pushed out or decided to leave the financially struggling institution on his own.
Deitch is apparently looking for an apartment in New York, where he was a successful gallery owner, while MOCA is looking for a new director.
