He has become somewhat known for his fluctuating weight, having toned up to play a Navy SEAL in Zero Dark Thirty last year before packing on the pounds for film comedy The Delivery Man.
And now Chris Pratt has done it again, spending six months working on his pectorals for forthcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy, and showing off the impressive results via his Twitter account.
The self portrait posted at the weekend features the 36-year-old star wearing just a pair of baggy black shorts surrounded by weight lifting equipment.
'Six months no beer,' he wrote next to the photo. '#GOTG Kinda douchey to post this but my brother made me.'
The Parks And Recreation star will play Peter Quill/Star-Lord in forthcoming Marvel superhero film to be released next year.
The plot of the film is shrouded in secrecy, but it is thought Chris's U.S. pilot character ends up in space and in the midst of a universal conflict.
Directed by James Gunn, Chris will star alongside Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Benicio del Toro and Doctor Who's Karen Gillan in the movie.
The star also got his body in ripped shape for his role as Justin in the Kathryn Bigelow film about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.
'I worked out really hard and I cut out everything bad for me for a long time and I just focused on trying to become a believable Navy SEAL,' he said about the role.
'I had about five to six months and I really busted my ass to get in shape,' he added to talk show host Conan O'Brien.
'They're so fit,' Chris said. 'They're put though physical and mental torture in order to get to be Seals.'
