Serena wins Swedish Open

Serena Williams brushed off a stunning fourth-round loss at Wimbledon by winning the Swedish Open.


The top-seeded Williams defeated No. 8 seed Johanna Larsson of Sweden by a 6-4, 6-1 margin to improve to 28-0 on clay this year and 51-3 overall in 2013.


The American star has now won seven tournaments in 2013, including the French Open. It was her 53rd career title.


Larsson fell to 0-3 in finals. She was the 2011 Bastad runner-up and was also a finalist in Portoroz three years ago.


The 16-time Grand Slam champion Williams took home $40,000 with the victory.

Yvonne Meusburger, Austria, def. Andrea Hlavackova, Czech Republic, 7-5, 6-2.



Yvonne Meusburger of Austria won her first WTA title by defeating Andrea Hlavackova of Czech Republic 7-5, 6-2 at the Gastein Ladies on Sunday.
